An easy and non-intrusive method for installing a motorized focuser on my Vixen 102M scope
I wanted to install a motorized focuser on a classic Vixen telescope that I own. The premise was that the original telescope should not be modified in any way.
The solution was to use the finderscope base to make an easily detachable motor support. Long & small dovetail used is widely available on Internet. By a happy coincidence the knurling on the focus knob matches the timing belt step size and the sprocket I had from an old printer (ref. 141516-001).
The motor (with a reduction gear and controlled with a Lunatico Seletek system) drives the original high-quality rack and pinion focusing system of the Vixen without any modification and can be connected and disconnected in a matter of seconds.
I think this method could be applied to many other telescopes.
Quería instalar un enfocador motorizado en mi Vixen 102M, un telescopio clásico. La premisa era que el telescopio original no debería modificarse de ninguna manera.
La solución fue utilizar la base del buscador para hacer un soporte de motor fácilmente desmontable. La cola de milano larga y pequeña utilizada está ampliamente disponible en Internet. Por una feliz coincidencia, el moleteado en la perilla de enfoque coincide con el tamaño del paso de la correa y el piñón que tenía de una impresora vieja (ref. 141516-001).
El motor (con engranaje reductor y controlado con un sistema Lunatico Seletek) acciona el sistema de enfoque de piñón y cremallera original de alta calidad del Vixen sin ninguna modificación y se puede conectar y desconectar en cuestión de segundos.
Creo que este método podría aplicarse a muchos otros telescopios.
